The Consumer Product Safety Commission (Commission or CPSC) is providing an opportunity for interested parties to present oral comments on the notice of proposed rulemaking (NPRM) the Commission issued for a safety standard for lithium-ion batteries. Oral presentations must be limited to matters within the scope of the NPRM. Any oral comments will become part of the rulemaking record.
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (Commission or CPSC) is withdrawing a direct final rule that would remove two obsolete rules concerning infant bouncer seats and stationary activity centers that was published in the Federal Register on July 22, 2026, because the Commission received a significant adverse comment.
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission's (Commission or CPSC) mandatory rule, Safety Standard for Button Cell or Coin Batteries and Consumer Products Containing Such Products, incorporates by reference UL 4200A, Standard for Safety for Products Incorporating Button Batteries or Coin Cell Batteries. UL notified the Commission that it has revised this incorporated voluntary standard. CPSC seeks comment on whether the revision improves the safety of button cell or coin batteries and consumer products containing such products.
